Philippe Starck + Puma

Available abroad since 2006 these rare imports are now becoming a little easier to find state side. Following in Starck fashions there is a well crafted and thought full marriage of leather and formed rubber. Reply if you would like more info on where to pick up pair.

If God had a website would it look like this?

Okay take the look of judgement off your face and follow me for a second. I ran across a website that was pretty interesting. It's a spin on confession or a prayer book. The topics range from belief, death, dreams, family and even sex. Take a minute to check it out and you will be impressed and motivated.

After you take a look at the site comeback and leave a comment. I'd like to know what you think.

Slick new home phone (If folks still use such things) - The Colombo

Check out the Colombo Two Phone.

This is the Colombo Two. Nothing to do with a mac-wearing detective, it's actually named after the legendary Italian designer, who made a name for himself creating objects best suited to the set of Space 1999. And this phone is a tribute to him by the ChauhanStudio.

It's all about the looks, with a slightly angled shape, clear digital screen, a keyboard almost flush to the actual handset and a horizontal stand/case. Now I know home phones are used about as frequently as pay phones on a college campus but hey if you do feel the need to have one at lest it can look good. For more info click here.

Check out the new track from The Foreign Exchange. It's playing now on thepurveryorofcool.com playlist.

Artefacture T-shirts

Using either 100% cotton or a poly/cotton/rayon blend (for vintage look/feel), this SF company's tees make "high concept" statements, i.e., a trademark symbol that itself has been TM'd, a pink panda face whose convo bubble's filled with black/white stripes, twin palms beseeching you to "Stop Hate", and "Pencil" -- a bunch of sharpened pencils forming an asterisk, perhaps suggestive of the orifice into which haters should go shove a pencil?

The Hippo Water Roller

In some developing countries fetching water to help sustain a family is an all day ordeal. Most often women and children are required to muscle Jerry cans or buckets incredible distances because their fathers or Husbands are working. One company has devised a much safer method. The Hippo roller.

"In many countries, traditional water collection involves carrying a 5-gallon (20-liter) bucket on the head. This practice puts a great burden on the body and can damage the spine, neck and knees over time. A full Hippo Water Roller only feels like 22 pounds (10 kg) when rolled over level ground, making it possible for almost anyone to transport 24 gallons (90 liters) of water in much less time and with greater ease." - Hipporoller.org

Take the time out to visit the website and take a look at how you can get involved.

Air Jordan Phat low

Days after an initial preview from a catalog scan, the counterpart to the Air Jordan 1 Phat Low seen yesterday is now available via the ‘Bay. Consisting of a black upper rather than white, varsity red, white and cement grey are common features to the white model. One of the most noticeable elements of this modified Air Jordan 1 is the cement print, originally found on the Air Jordan III, not the Air Jordan I. However, cement print isn’t the only thing new to this Air Jordan I, a padded tongue and inner lining offer perfect support and comfort for skating, while retaining Air Jordan I essence. Get your pair today on the ‘Bay.

Stay fly with Wrath Arcane

Provided you're not unsalvageably ugly, dressing crisply can attract women, but it can also attract snide comments from men who insist you're out to attract not-women. Silence them with a touch of menace, with Wrath Arcane.

Midwestern sons who go by the motto "Big Labels Are F**ked", Wrath's fall line of stylishly understated duds coyly hint at badassness, both by drawing on specific military & political history, and by incorporating (on many pieces) a signature harness construction that gives off the illusion the wearer's shoulder-strapping heat (they also sub in Vs for vowels in piece titles, so break yourself). Prime outerwear includes the double-breasted wool "Nvrth Vne" (named for North's Civil War victory); the 4 patch-pocketed, belted-trench "Cvstro", inspired by a vintage photo of the dictator; and the water-repellent, 100% Japanese cotton "Raglan Blvzer," whose three-piece diagonal sleeve was first crafted to minimize the armlessness of British Waterloo vet 1st Baron Raglan. Other standouts are the double-harnessed "Sym" buttondown, the "Hvstory Woven" flannel shirt w/ snap button closures (gives off a sophisticated East LA "ese" vibe), and the "Assvm Pvllover," with an asymmetrical neckline and a Grim Reaper hood, signaling the arrival of certain dvvth.

More toned down action includes the slim-fit "Drvss Shvrt" and the "Bvnker Pvnt", dress pants made from 100% poly-rayon -- so you'll stay wrinkle free as you sit on your couch, proving everyone wrong by watching Red Dawn alone.

Wrath's got the common decency to cover all their male models' faces. Check out Fall at WrathArcane.com

Poketo wallet

If you are in the Chi take a look at Poketo Wallets

You can find them at the MCA: 220 E Chicago Ave, at N Seneca; Gold Coast; 312.280.2660
Everyone agrees that the most beautiful thing in the world is money -- so doesn't it make sense that you stash your money in a beautiful thing? Slide your cash into a Poketo wallet, just in at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Poketos are super-affordable, double-layered vinyl billfolds festooned with vibrant graphic renderings created by a worldwide network of 100+ artists, from right here in Chicago to the goat-eating metropolis of Trollhättan, Sweden. Designs from the latest drop're highlighted by a creepily eyeballed red & blue geometrical composition; a SpongeBob-esque creature riding a rail car through a stoner's anime fantasyland; and an explosion of birds, plants, and Latin-style hearts representing “the lush and vibrant nature of Colombia” (if you're waiting for a cocaine joke, go FARC yourself). Others hawked include skulls striped like an old TV signoff, Sasquatch looming in a barren forest, and two cartoon jiu-jitsu heroes illustrating the yin-yang of male pattern baldness, afro vs chrome dome.

Inside each wallet, you'll find a quick artist bio card, so you'll know your billfold's stunning-brunettes collage was designed by Andrio Abero, winner of “Young Guns 4” -- an arts award inspired by the 2nd and 3rd most beautiful things in the world, Estevez/Sheen. Or Sheen/Estevez.

Wallets are $20 each; order 'em online and check out their other stuff ranging from tees to “mood” bottle openers at Poketo.com

iPhone Login utility - LogOnce

Desktop password manager LogOnce has released a new way for users of the iPhone and iPod Touch to skip having to enter usernames and passwords on sites that require them. You can log in to any site for which you've saved a password just by opening up a special bookmark that plugs in your log-in credentials for you.
There's no software to install and nothing to remember. You can also wipe out any access, just in case you manage to lose your phone, or it gets stolen.
It's devilishly simple, and it works, though the setup is a bit tedious. You must first register with the site, then plug in all your usernames and passwords from various sites, then make sure you're logged into the LogOnce site via your device. After that, it's simply a matter of summoning up the bookmarklet shortcut when you're on the log-in screen at any given site where your registered.
To help make things a bit simpler, you can do all the password management on your PC, if you're willing to download the software version. It syncs up all the log-ins you've provisioned to the your account, so you can access them on the device. In case it's stolen, you simply change out your master password, which will keep any would-be identity thief from being able to access your information.
A far simpler solution, if you're willing to install something on your iPhone or iPod Touch, is 1Password. It's one of my favorites because it gives you far greater control over the fields you can enter, and it blends the management with browsing in the same space, which can be helpful, if you want to make changes on the fly.

IndiTailored - New custom clothier

While having an old man painstakingly grope you can be flattering, sometimes you just don't have the flexibility to go in for a custom shirt fitting. For a quicker route, try indiTailored.

Having started out designing online customization tech for retailers like Lands End, indi's axed the middleman and applied their engine to the less sensibly crunchy realm of high-qual dress shirts in high-count cotton and dandyish fabrics from twill to herringbone. Pick between the Tailored (contempo slim fit) or Classic (looser fitting) base shape, select one of 23 fabric swatches (more to come), and then it's on to the deets: 12 collar options (Buttondown, Spread, Tab, etc), 7 cuffs (1/2/3-buttons, French, Mitered, etc), 4 pocket styles, 3 back pleats, and a monogram option limited only by your name/number of hilarious three-letter words you can think of (SUK ASS POO on that). Indi'll then ask a few of simple questions to gauge appropriate fit: height/weight, neck & waist size, sportcoat size and length, plus a handful of general torso descriptions accompanied by diagrams best described as "fat-ucational" (for instance, chests can be "husky or hefty", but stomachs are more appropriately "stout").

To cover the rest of you, indi's planning on adding pants and blazers, as well as a third, uber-trendy shirt style called the "Individual": with contrast stitching and embroidered pockets, you'll look so sharp, the old men will come running to you.

Customize your shirt collection with indiTailored.com - Thrillist

Ralph Lauren introduces rugby.com

if you have not been introduced to the comfort of Rugby by Ralph Lauren. You need to to take sometime to get familiar. Head over to their new website, Rugby.com

Available for the first time online: from Fleece Peacoats, to Chino Skull Pants, to Bonaparte Ties, to eight rugby shirts innovatively hung in an interactive bureau; click an icon, and digital models'll show you what you'd look like wearing them, if only you were a model.

Another great aspect of Rugby.com is the site's collaborating on social entrepreneur projects, the first two being the FEED Bag Initiative (benefits school lunch programs), and a pair of TOMS shoes, varsity styled -- buy a pair, and an underprivileged child gets a pair of shoes for free (seriously, that's their business plan).

Culture-wise, Rugby's posting arts & fashion stories (steampunk exhibits, Mad Men primers, hot women in kneesocks), even music mixes with the likes of the White Rabbits and The Virgins (catch 'em quick, before they become The Wish We Were Stills).

In the coming weeks, the site'll debut a make-your-own-rugby feature, where you choose logos, thread colors, and monograms -- which'll make other people seethe with envy, at least 'til they realize all they need to best you is a sweet modern internet connection.

Lay your eyes on the whole collection at Rugby.com

"Let's Rock" - Are new Ipods on the way from Apple"

Could this be the new Ipod? Word on the street has our #1 homeboy from Cupertino is holding another sermon, I mean press announcement tomorrow and I am guessing that the topic will be the 3 new iPods that are slated to drop this fall. Rumor or not this announcement has our favorite nerd turned philanthropist shook. So much so the guys from Microsoft moved up their announce date for the updated Zune. Stay tuned this should be interesting. By the way short MSFT and go long on AAPL

The New Zune is still trying....

While it still is not a true iPod fighter, the new Zune does have a some slick new features that are worth checking out.

"So much for that ta-da event tomorrow -- Microsoft just confirmed the fall Zune lineup a little earlier than planned, and it's almost exactly as leaked: capacity bumps to 120GB and 16GB, new WiFi music store, Zune 3.0 software with recommendations and pre-programmed theme channels, and two new games, Hexic and Texas Hold 'Em. Oh, and that snappy blue flash Zune we just spotted. Pricing is similarly unsurprising, seeing as we've had it for a week: the 120GB Zune is $250, while the 16GB flash model is $199 and the 8 gigger is $149. Oh well, at least we still have those new mice and webcams to look forward to tomorrow, right? Certainly nothing else is going on.

Update: The official PR is out, looks like Zune owners can look forward to the Zune 3.0 software update on September 16. Oh, and there's new Audible support as well. Rock on, rockers." - CNET

There seems to be something very soft at Microsoft. team that with lackluster ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and it is going to be a long cold holiday season for Microsoft share holders.

RF ID for everybody - Tikitag

A friend of mine just bought a new car and the dealer outfitted it with an RFID tag. The tag allows her to pull into the dealers service bay and, without ever speaking to a representative, her name and picture (if so desired), vehicle make an model and scheduled maintenance needs are automatically displayed on a flat screen above her car. This technology can now be in your hand to customize as you please. Check out the Tikitag.

"The Alcatel-Lucent-backed Tikitag sure has managed to keep a low profile until now, but it looks to have made quite a splash at the DemoFall conference this week, where it showed off its RFID tagging system that's apparently set to go into public beta in less than a month. The system, which Tikitag confidently boasts will "build the internet of things," promises to let you add an RFID tag to anything you like and associate it with a webpage or application -- for instance, a business card that links to page with all your social networking information or, less usefully, a cube that you can use to control iTunes. Intrigued? You'll apparently be able to pick up the Tikitag reader and ten tikitags for $50 on October 1st, with boxes of 25 tikitags also available for those looking to get a little more ambitious. - Engadget"

The Segway Centaur By Reuben Wiley

Hold on to your horses Segway fans! Now there is a new way to get around. The Centaur is a radical invention created by Segway that successfully takes the best of two or three worlds (Segway, BMX and ATV) and mashes them together.

I first fell in love with the Centaur while looking for a form of transportation that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg every week to fill up at the gas station. I love my Jeep, but DANG! 17 mpg! Anyway, I was all set to put my money down on a Rhodes car when I saw the Centaur.

The Centaur looks like it belongs in the future. Its powered by electricity. I said it’s powered by electricity! No gas! And it is able to do things that no other Segway, off road bike or ATV could dream of. It’s true, watch the video!

Unfortunately, having said all that, you won’t be seeing me or any other fan riding down the street or off road any time soon. The Centaur is merely a concept vehicle. Awhh. I guess it’s just as well. I’m sure it would end up costing quit a bit of money. After all, Segway scooters are going for around $5,000.

Who cares. I want one!

The new king of speed the Shelby Super Car Aero

The Shelby Super Cars Aero is the new bad ass on the block. With a top speed of 257 MPH it picked up the gauntlet laid down by the Bugatti Veyron and gave the well quaffed rocket an open hand slap in the mouth. While a much more raw and visceral ride in comparison the SSC Aero does what it intends. GO REALLY FAST!

The Bugatti Veyron revisited

So a few weeks ago I posted an article about the Bugatti Veyron and why it was super fly. The guys over at Top Gear in the U.K. are going to show you a little more. Maybe the next time I am in Miami I can borrow Scott Storch's and hit the Keys. Hey I can dream can't I. Anyway the cool factor is pretty well laid out in this clip. The Veyron is a production car that That tops out at over 250 MPH (faster than an F1 racecar), comes with a ultralux interior and has a trunk. Sick.

But wait this just in. Much like technology one day you're king of the mountain and the next day you're outta here. There is a new king of speed and you'll have to come back to find out just who that is.

Coat hooks take a stab at interior design

I honestly tried to come up with some catchy knife related joke (O.J.'s living room, Freddie Kruger's coat rack) and they were all corny so I'll get to the point. The shiny black coat hangers appear to impale your wall and adding an instant conversation point to your living space. It's a great example of functional art. A Purveyor of Cool: Latesha Lipscomb

WHO ARE WE WITH?
Latesha Lipscomb

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
While I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, I represent Chicago like I was born here. Chicago has the ambiance of a city that never sleeps, with great shopping and dining, but has genuine flare of Midwestern hospitality. Chicago is where I belong…and so…I put on for my city!

WHERE ARE YOU BASED CURRENTLY?
Currently, I operate my cosmetic consulting business out of Chicago but I am looking to expand to Atlanta, Detroit, and Phoenix. Currently, I travel frequently between Chicago, New York and LA for opportunities in the industry.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am the creator and CEO of I GOT FACE Cosmetic Consulting, which is a concierge service for Celebrities, Diva Fashionistas, Brides-to-be, Executives and all Purveyors of Cool! I am a Full-figured Model and a seasoned Make-up Artist.

All my life, I have always been told “you have such a pretty face”. As a result, I developed a serious self-identity complex and didn’t feel beautiful from the neck down. Given that, I was serious about make-up at very young age, watching my mother closely, daily. She is the most BEAUTIFUL woman in my world! It wasn’t until I reached my adult years that I learned to love and embrace my body completely. When I finally learned to really LOVE ME…I GOT FACE was born. And I have been in a passionate and sultry tango with the beauty industry ever since…

WHAT ARE THE THREE THINGS PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
First – I believe that “ALL women are beautiful, sometime it’s just a matter of bringing what’s on the inside out”!

Second – Don’t ever tell me: “You don’t need make-up”! Make-up is not about “need”, cosmetics only enhance the beauty that comes from within. So don’t’ take my eye shadows or MAC lip gloss, or ill cut you…LOL!

Third – “I’m a woman by nature but a lady by choice”!

DEFINE COOL FOR US.
Cool is being a phenomenon in your own right. Cool is having the courage to walk in your destiny. Cool is “keeping your head about you when all the world is losing theirs”. Cool is a warrior spirit but a demure presence. Cool is making an advocate out of a non-believer!

SO WHAT MAKES YOU A PURVEYOR OF COOL?
My hunger and thirst for MORE! I strive to be the best possible me in every aspect of my life. I am not afraid to get closer to my dreams, fully understanding that nightmares are dreams too. I aim to maintain my swagger at all times. I shall not be moved. When I die, I want a thousand different people at my funeral in honor of me for a thousand different kind gestures. That is to have succeeded in this life…

ANY LAST WORDS?
I GOT FACE to give. Please consider booking me for all your cosmetic needs. I will bring my service to you. I am all things fashion!

If you ask me what I came to do in this world: I will answer you, “I am here to live out loud!”

Miami - The Gansevoort Hotel

This weekend I had the opportunity to lounge at the Gansevoort Hotel in Miami. The roof top pool dubbed "Plunge" was the perfect location to relax and unwind. 18 stories above the ocean, this adult-only tropical playground features a 110-foot long swimming pool on a 26,000 sq ft palm-tree fringed Brazilian Ipe deck, poolside lounges and cabanas and awe inspiring city and ocean views. Trust the picture do not do the property justice.

Located at 23rd and Collins this hotel is modern yet inviting and provides all the luxuries one could desire. While the property is a bit removed from the main strip it is close to Lincoln which is home to a number of shops that the above average traveler would appreciate. If you are headed to Miami make it a point to add this hotel to you short list.
